Warren Buffett Successor

Hi,
In May 2007, in Reuters report Buffett to pay CIO candidates for performance has mention that Mr. Warren Buffett is looking for candidates to succeed him as chief investment officer of Berkshire Hathaway. Mr. Warren Buffett will give them each $2 billion to $3 billion to invest. These candidates will be paid low salaries but offer incentives for an amount based "on a five-year basis, probably, of the percentage by which they beat the S&P".

Buffett said in his annual shareholder letter Lou Simpson would have been his choice as CIO if he were more than six years younger. Mr. Buffett had three internal candidates for his chief executive officer role, and one who would step up immediately if Buffett could no longer serve.

Analysts have mentioned five possible executives CEO candidates: General Re Corp.'s Joseph Brandon, Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance's Ajit Jain, Geico's Tony Nicely, Net Jets Inc.'s Rich Santulli, and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co.'s David Sokol.

In Jan 2008, an article: Lavish praise for a potential successor to the Sage. People see Ajit Jain closest associates and a potential candidate to succeed Mr. Buffett. Who will be Mr. Buffett Successor? Who will become the CIO of Berkshire Hathaway?
